Welcome to Vortex

As starter I present my Solar Eclipse composite Art: (Click the picture to view it full size)
In 1999 I travelled to France to experience my first total solar eclipse. Along with the other people there I was very lucky to capture the totality in a clear sky. If you have never experienced a solar eclipse totality then I strongly recommend that you pull the lead out and go to see one before you die. If you don’t then you will regret it for the rest of you after-life.

I will sell my Solar Art to you for only 18 Euro, or US $ 15, for the original CG of the composite. Click to order the CD. For those of you that are too poor to spend the dough you may simply copy it from the website. Be my guest !

I took the spectacular shots on August 11, 1999, in a little town in France called Neufchátel-en-Bray, just North-West of Paris between Rouen and Amiens. I used my Pentax ESII, a 200 mm telelens with UV filter, at f22 and 1/1000 sec.

I am Professional Mechanical Engineer and on this website I share with you what I do and how I tick. I graduated from the University of BC, in Vancouver Canada, in 1974. First I attended Engineering Physics. My thirst for understanding was satisfied in that course a little bit. The secrets of how things worked drove me crazy each time before I discovered something new. That's why my friends believed I came from Outer Space instead of from Holland. Half way through University I changed my focus to mechanical engineering so I could get a job. My interest in physics remains to this day. I keep thinking about how the Big Bang got on its way but I have not solved it yet. I read a lot about Einstein. I Liked the way he thought: He is believed to have said:

"Do everything as simple as possible, but not simpler".

To find out how the world ticked…how could a fast clock run slow ? and things like that… I looked in Einstein’s books for answers but was distraught when I found out he was human and made mistakes like most mortals. The physics courses gave me most of what I needed to find out how things work, but my friends still consider me weird ! I became a mechanical engineer second to none...well, maybe second to some. I developed an interest in plasma physics and that keeps me very busy now ! (Click the picture to view it full size). Click to Order this picture
